Default HmAniml - My student project short film

Hey Guru,

Last two months I've been working on a short film with my friend for a college project. I am glad to share it with you! (and since it doesn't relate to Guild Wars, or is nothing I consider "artistic", I am posting here instead of Nolani forum). The original language is french but I subtitled it.

If you people like it/care/want me to, I can upload a high quality version.

It is more of a reflection one is supposed to do with himself on the narrator's assertions (i.e.: it is not your usual story), but if you have any question, I'll be glad to share my opinion.

That being said, I hope you enjoy it!

I think it's pretty cool. It does describe our lifestyle but from a different perspective.

Hey cerb,

A very good effort.
I enjoyed watching it.
I love the sound of French being spoken (how it is pronounce), no, I don't speak French, actually I love listening to various other languages being spoken.
Thanks for the subtitle.

It is good with Lots of room for expansion, in my opinion, showing a little more of people mass producing stuffs and packing them in boxes comes to mind. Animation with the lines are very nicely done.

And i don't understand what you mean by this: It is more of a reflection one is supposed to do with himself on the narrator's assertions.

The youtube version is fine, probably take ages to download the high res one anyway but thanks for offering.

(PS: i am probably not very good at giving comments, but I do love to watch movies, so if anything does not sound right, don't mind them)

That means you can pretty much take any sentence/statement made by the narrator and conclude lots about it.

For instance:
Quote:
there are two kinds of price: those you can eat and those you cannot eat.
That obviously is true. But if you think about it on a second level, this statement completely banalizes the purpose of food. How often in a grocery store will you pick a product instead of another (that could be better for your health) because it is cheaper (and could use that money to buy other stuff)? Why pay that much for bread? We tend to banalize food and think that "food is food". Food is our most basic physiological need, our most important, yet it's probably the one we give least importance to (and as a result, many health problems - these do not come solely from McDonald's, Burger King and the likes).

That is exactly what the statement means: "food is a price like anything else." Of course, it only applies to the behavior of the "hunter".

I could elaborate furthermore but that's the gist of it. Like I said, every statement leads to reflections, which are your own. I co-wrote the script with my friend and we had two different perspectives on it.

Watching the movie on the first degree will probably lead you to thinking that the movie is about (over)consumption and society, which isn't really what it is about (honestly so many movies/books talk about that, it's becomed boring). Thinking on a second degree will lead to a far more entertaining experience. In fact, the abstraction I was forced to make when writing the script made me realize some things are just funny, and kinda ridiculous in their own ways. (paradox between ancestral men hunting with spears, and nicely dressed people walking classily out of a grocery store/"big box" with bags in their hands.) Following a similar thinking, you can get laughs from pretty much any thing/event that happens in current life - couple problems, abortion, lost a job, hate your boss, homosexual rights/marriage, etc.

Many statements are imaged and you have to imagine it yourself to actually "get" them. That line "once he's done the hunter drags his preys and waits in line" is probably the most paradoxical of all - and funny if you imagine it (yet that's pretty much what we do).

Hope that helped!
